Description Roland 2024-05-13 17:30:29 UTC
Description:
In Writer I create a new envelope by using Insert Envelope. The format is a #10. If I only fill in the addressee, and then click 'Insert', it is formatted correctly for my HP printer. See the attachment 'Correct'.

But, if I add the Sender information and then click 'Insert', it is not formatted correctly. Compared to the correct envelope, it has moved down the page in the document, so when it is printed, it is too low and is misprinted. See the attachment 'Incorrect'.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Writer
2.Insert Envelope
3.Fill in addressee AND sender
4.Format is #10 envelope

Actual Results:
The envelope appears too low on the page. I cannot move it up, and it prints incorrectly.

Expected Results:
If I leave the sender off, it formats correctly. I should be able to add the sender and have it format correctly.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I don't think that this is specific to my particular printer.

Which orientation are you using in the Printer tab?

Here is the printer tab that you requested. It also shows my printer

I had noticed similar bug reports, though it looks like it was never fixed. This is kind of frustrating and I will help however I can to get this fixed. I have attached the information from the printer tab that you have requested. It shows the orientation of the envelope in the printer, and the particular printer I am using. Let me know if you need anything else.
Comment 5 Roland 2024-05-14 15:34:16 UTC
I forgot to mention that when I go to the Print page, the HP printer wants to know which orientation to use. I have to choose Landscape to get it to print properly on the envelope.

Thank you for the information. Looks like the same problem as bug 107150.

Can you please check if the following applies to you too when inserting a #10 envelope:

- Horizontal Left: OK
- Horizontal Center: OK
- Horizontal Right: OK
- Vertical Left: wrong (22.71 cm width by 21.59 cm height)
- Vertical Center: wrong (22.71 cm × 16.50 cm)
- Vertical Right: OK

Envelop tab from print envelope

I apologize in that I am not sure what you are asking for. Is this from a dialog box? Once I Insert Envelope, I use the default settings from the format tab. As for the print tab, note how the envelope is inserted into the printer (edgewise). There is a slot on this printer with guides that allow me to position the envelope exactly.

Note in the correct and incorrect .png files that I sent you, the text representing the envelope is positioned differently. They should both have the 'correct' positioning.

If you want more information on the numbers that you asked about, please explain where I can find them.

I don't understand comment #11. Do you need anything from me, or do you have everything?
Note that in the format tab, I used the default settings.
Also, the ONLY change between the correct, working envelope and the one that doesn't print correctly is the addition of text to the Sender field in the envelope tab.
